Continuing my Ode to Monet series, this piece explores the dance between surface and depth through the delicate pause of a water lily and the restless shimmer of the water beneath. Working with cold
wax
, I wanted to create a sense
of transpa
rency and movement, a kind of visual whisper that invites the viewer to peer below the surface.
The wax became my partner in mischief: softening edges, catching light, and revealing hidden layers I
hadn’t
planned but
couldn’t
bear to cover.
There’s
a quiet joy in that moment of
uncertainty, when
the paint decides to have its own say.
